Weekend Wolves
Try turning out the light? Is it dark yet? Dark it might be but I bet it ain’t as dark as the Weekend Wolves are….especially if you watch the video to Karma without the lights on too. This track could be the opening/closing credits of a Seven like film. I know there’s Chillwave but...
Stars – Fixed / Dead Hearts (Lights Over LA Remix)
I’ll start this review by firstly saying that it’s criminal that Stars are not given the same respect as fellow Canadians The Arcade Fire. Both bands were releasing records around the same time and I think Stars should’ve got just as much adulation.
Daft Punk – Harder Better Faster Stronger (HLM Remix)
HLM has done it again with probably his finest remix work to date. The HLM remix of Daft Punk’s Harder Better Faster Stronger keeps the magic of the epic original but he has taken us to a funkier and more bangtastic place.
No Ceremony – Hurtlove
Hurtlove by No Ceremony is a stunning track. The simple 3 key change loop of piano interlaced with haunting vocals and echoing drum beats works perfectly. We first heard this yesterday and it’s one of those tracks that is the perfect length where you just keep hitting play…and play….and play again.
Little Dragon – Ritual Union (Maya Jane Coles Remix)
Before we go any further, let me just ask you how good this track is? Awesome I hear you say and you’re damn right!!! The track Ritual Union in all it’s glory is pretty much one of the best track releases of 2011.
Kreayshawn – Gucci Gucci Remix (Feat. Giggs)
First up, I’m a big big fan of this track. Secondly, this track’s odd backing track hark back to the days of Moloko’s ‘Fun For Me’. Maybe that’s why I’m a sucker for this as it gets under your skin in a different way to most tracks.
Penguin Prison – Don’t Fuck With My Money
We’re big fans of Penguin Prison and the future that is Mr Chris Glover. Since he’s been putting some remix magic on a lot of artists over recent months, been supporting the likes of Jamiroquai and also headlining his own shows, I think it is now finally time for the world to hail the music...
Game (Feat. Chris Brown) – Pot of Gold (Andrew Goldberg & AL Sharif Remix)
Another sunshine filled day and another great remix comes our way. Courtesy of the remixers Andrew Goldberg & AL Sharif comes a great reworking of ‘Pot of Gold’ by Game featuring Chris Brown.
Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – Record Collection (Perseus Remix)
Here’s a great remix of ‘Record Collection’. So good in fact, that as I type this I’ve just put it back on loop for a 2nd time. I love a good remix that barely resembles the original and this is one of those mixes indeed.
Metric – Help I’m Alive (Krusha Remix)
I’ve loved Metric for quite some time now and the original version of ‘Help I’m Alive’ from the album Fantasies is quite something. It also takes good production when you can remix a track and not kill it. Krusha has definitely done the opposite of butchery here.
Florence + The Machine – What The Water Gave Me
Wow folks, this track is mighty!!! I had the pleasure to stream the new track from Florence + The Machine yesterday and ‘What The Water Gave Me’ is a sonic masterpiece.
Daft Punk – Derezzed (Avicii’s Vocal Edit)
Daft Punk’s original Derezzed track was awesome. No question. The Avicii remix that featured on the Tron Legacy remix album was ok (not a patch on the original). However, with the vocal edit that has now surfaced, I’m liking this track a lot more.
Kenton Dunson – Top Of The World Feat. Passion Pit
Well, going off this track, the recent mix of Rolling In The Deep and the downloads of Creative Destruction Part 2, it shouldn’t be long before Kenton Dunson is in fact on ‘Top Of The World’. This track is stupendously good and bringing along Passion Pit for the ride is always a worthwhile bonus to...
Feist – I Feel It All (Brit From Spoon Remix)
I’m feeling it all the way for the Brit From Spoon Remix of Feist. Take me to another place with your beats. Feist’s ‘I Feel It All’ is pretty awesome and the remix does the original some justice and a half.
