Could it be that OzHop is evolving into something that with every recent new release was becoming more and more inconceivable; something that is actually good? The Herd have long been at the forefront of non-generic OzHop and based upon the evidence presented in “Pocket Full of Dreams”, it appears as though Diafrix are going...
It wasn’t exactly the day the music died, but still when one of your favourite bands decides to call it a day, it is a bit sad. And that is exactly what this was as The Beautiful Girls bade farewell for the last time with a series of gigs at The Corner. After 10 years...
To celebrate the New Hamer Hall in Melbourne, the Arts Centre and David M. Hawkings are presenting an opening season program and the fantabulous Macy Gray will be performing songs from her new album Covered along with a selection of her greatest hits.
It was somewhat fitting that The Smashing Pumpkins aka The Billy Corgan Experience were headlining Splendour 2012. Their clip for Bullet with Butterfly Wings summed up their whole weekend quite neatly; awesome music, mob mentality descending as all and sundry were swept up in a sea of animal onesies and finally mud, lots of mud....
We have something special and a little different planned in the pipeline and we’re looking for Australian, US & UK sponsors for a SXSW event we will be hosting with codenamemax.com in Austin in March 2013. Quite simply it is going to be huge & WE WANT YOU!!
If you’re hungry for the Soul Clap remix of Lianne La Havas and her track ‘Is Your Love Big Enough’ we’re asking are your remix stash big enough? Why? Well, it’s two for one time again as we reckon you should also be getting your fix of the remix by Ganggaddy.
What more could you want? Slick tunes, a roller disco and some roller flute action too all ‘roller rolled’ into one awesome track and an outrageously good video to match it.
Ladyhawke will be live streaming to the world from her home town of Wellington at the iconic San Francisco Bathhouse this Friday 13th July. Not only that but it is also Pip’s birthday on that very day too so that sounds like anything but an unlucky Friday the 13th if you ask us.
We’re getting all giddy that the new album by The Presets which is almost upon us and in anticipation of their album ‘Pacifica’ we just can’t help but dig a little back into the archives from their early classic tracks.
Missy Higgins’ new album is about to drop on 1st June and after listening to ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’, we’re quite excited about what 2012 has to offer.
He’s at it again!!! Our roving gig radar Aymeric de Rosbo has been out on the trail of a good concert and has dropped us another fine gig review. This time it’s for the mighty Florence + The Machine when she dropped in with her band at Rod Laver Arena.
Our roving gig radar Aymeric de Rosbo has been out again on the trail of a good concert and dropped us a fine two for one review of The Raveonettes & The Brian Jonestown Massacre gig at The Forum in Melbourne. Don’t mention DiG! though…
Cultural cringe is an interesting phenomenon. Something that you should be theoretically proud of leaves you rocking back and forth in the foetal position and filled with an innate sense of dread. Ozhop fits extremely comfortably in this category.

DJ M!KEATTACK is pretty special!!! We caught him mixing the night away at his resident spot at StK Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Magnum Monday night a couple of weeks back!!! To say it was the night of nights wouldn’t do his DJ skills justice. He was pretty spesh and left us hungry for more...
What a week it is turning out to be. We caught Grimes at the Live From The Loft ‘Google Play and YouTube’ stage yesterday to catch an up and coming star. We had high hopes for this one and it did not disappoint.
We’ve wanted to catch the mighty Penguin Prison live for sometime now since discovering them with their awesome tunes and amazing album. When the chance came along to get to catch them at SXSW at the Hard Rock Hotels ‘Sound of Your Stay’ Music Lounge, we took it!!!
Well, as they say, if you don’t shoot you don’t score!!! That was our motto when we were notified we won a ballot/ticket to catch the SXSW performance of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. What a SXSW it has been.
When you are at SXSW, fate plays a glorious part in getting to some awesome gigs. A classic example of this was last night when we ‘attempted’ to get into the Hype Machine Hotel gig last night for Miike Snow and Madeon and bypassed to Crystal Fighters instead.
Far out…..it’s not often you get to sit in a lounge right next to the band playing your favourite songs. It’s all very live in your lounge here courtesy of Giant Noise and the Hard Rock Hotels ‘Sound Of Your Stay Live’ venue in Austin with The Kaiser Chiefs playing it live and loud!!!!
If we can stay awake until 3am tonight (tomorrow morning) we’re going to be partying hard to DJ R3HAB!!! If not, we’ll be parting hard to DJ R3HAB at another point at SXSW!!!
It was a hard day in the office today. We’ve just caught Alabama Shakes live on stage at SXSW and they were mightily special.
