YMR Watch List: 2012

Well, 2011 was a big year for us all in the world of tunes, DJs, mixes and awesome artists around the globe. At the start of each year, we list the bands and artists that we think should be on your music radar and who we predict have a great year ahead.

We can’t remember a time where we have saturated ourselves in so much good music. Gigs, festivals, mp3s, iTunes, bandcamps, soundcloud, soundbytes…it’s all been happening. Not to mention that we only kickstarted this site in 2011 and things are going from strength to strength. 2011 has been a great year and 2012 promises to bigger and better, with SXSW on the horizon in March (only a few months away…woo hoo!!!)

So, getting back to our ones to watch for 2012. We’ve tweaked our list a little bit this year. There’s up and coming bands, artists and DJs that you should get to know as they’ll be hot this year. There’s also some artists that you’ll know already but we think they will have a massive year.

We sometimes get a bit premature on some artists and whilst they might be listed below, you may be reading this come 31st December 2012 and go, hmmm, those artists are just coming out of their egg shells now and getting heard to the masses. Don’t worry, that’s happened before (see our list for 2011 with Glasser, Julianna Barwick and Nicholas Jaar and you’ll know what we mean as only now are they really getting the praise they deserve).
