Your Shot 2017

Your Shot presented by Alcatel has wrapped its 2017 competition, culminating with a 3-way final in Melbourne. Your Shot is a one-of-a-kind Australian DJ competition that offers full training and its fair to say that the entrants we saw live were sensational and you’d never have known that they’d not had their hands on any DJ kit only a few weeks before.

Across 3 massive packed-out weekends, 360 contestants selected from a record 10,000 registrants across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, battled it out for the opportunity of a lifetime to perform at one of the world’s hottest music festivals, and kick-off their future DJ career.

  • Sister duo, MAIIAM (aka Dijok Mai and Titchiang Mai) – models, designers, and now DJ’s, put on a fantastic show. With their distinct style and passion for music, the MAI sisters acknowledge the music industry to be extremely male dominated industry and want to use the Your Shot crown as a platform for change.

Now that Your Shot is finished, we want to travel the country, meet other amazing creatives, learn and most importantly – create a path for gender diversity in the music scene! In an industry that’s mainly male dominated, we want to be an encouragement to other young females that if we can do it, they can.

  • A sailor in the Royal Australian Navy and son of a popular country singer, J/\KEB, (aka Jakeb Morrison) was the overall Your Shot contestant winner in Sydney. After taking the Your Shot Sydney crown, J/\KEB plans to build his brand and continue to pursue his DJing dreams.

I just want to share my passion for music through Dj’ing, but ultimately, I just want to make people smile!

  • ANOUK (aka Nikki Chong) based on the Gold Coast, was always on the side-lines of the music industry working as a backline technician. She saw Your Shot as an opportunity to step into the spotlight and evolve her career in the industry.

It’s time to work really hard and start ‘the hustle’, Brisbane and Gold Coast will be seeing a lot more of me for sure!
