Fred Falke can do no wrong in my eyes and when he remixed Grizzly Bear it was a genius mix. However, DJ Lobsterdust has added an extra sprinkling of magic dust to this mix by adding Journey into the mix.
Buchanan played the last night of their four week residency at Northcote Social Club (NSC) this week on Tuesday 26th April and this coincided with their EP release on iTunes which is due out Friday 29th April.
Lissie Maurus has recently hit our shores in a support slot for Megan Washington and also to headline her own intimate gigs across Australia. Coming off the back of a successful 2010 and an ever growing fan base in 2011, Lissie is one to watch.
I always find it’s the subtle mash ups that work the best and get the most airplay. This one by DJ Lobsterdust is one of those mixes. Lady Gaga has received the mash up treatment a lot but this one is up there with some of the best ones.
Kimbra’s official video for her Cameo Lover EP is here!!!
We’ve put together an 8tracks mix of some of our favourite tunes by Australian bands over recent times.
With all things Michael Jackson still popular, this remix deserves an airing. There have been many ‘trashy’ mixes churned out of MJ since he went to the great Neverland in the sky, but this one definitely passes the mark.
Buchanan’s No Photo EP out 29th April 2011 I first saw Buchanan when they were supporting Gypsy & The Cat at The Hi-Fi Bar (Melbourne) in January 2011. They were very very good and the ‘spider sense’ was definitely telling me that they are destined for great things.
Another classic mash-up from the archives. This was one of my favourite mixes from last summer and is still on my playlist today.
This remix should’ve brought all of the DJs to the yard… a corker that slipped under a lot of DJ’s radar last year. I’m a big fan of Night Drugs…remixes that is…
Now this would have made Record Day extra special if you made a purchase of this last week. Daft Punk has released a limited edition 10 inch clear vinyl disc featuring 4 tracks.
We’re big fans of deep house tracks from yesteryear and the many current tracks that are out there at the moment in the land of Defected, Armada and Trax Records. So, our very own Importer DJs have rustled up this 1hr treat of a mix for us.
Party Ben is a god when it comes to mashups and this track is one of our favourites….well they’re all awesome but this one fits nicely into the re-edit category too. A magical mix of Beth Ditto singing with Simian Mobile Disco and Rufus & Chaka Khan.
Start your day, evening or weekend for that matter with this well crafted remix of Luther Vandross’ Never Too Much (ODahls K-Love Remix).
Quite simply, this is one of the best re-edit’s out there. I’ve had this on play for months now and I just can’t stop playing it. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve played this track in the last 6 months, I would have a big old pot of gold coins.
This is without doubt one of my favourite Daft Punk tracks and the subtle remix does it some justice. Bliss to the ears!!! Daft Punk – Something About Us (Pyramid Remix) by -Pyramid-
With just over a month to go to Kylie coming back to Australian shores and the Katy Perry on tour here at the moment, it seems only appropriate to share this corker of a mash-up with you.
A short and brief post. Two of my favourite tracks, mashed into one track of bliss. Listen and enjoy. Enough said…
The title suggests it all. No, it is not a remand centre for the seriously afflicted fluffy birds in our lives. It is a band (Chris Glover) from the US who are pretty awesome and who have been remixing a lot of well loved tracks over the last 12 months. Penguin Prison have gotten their...
In the words of Fat Boy Slim, I’m halfway between the gutter and the stars. Do I wait for the sideshows to hit Melbourne for the bands we truly want to see, or do we climb into a luxury camper van and hit the road to Splendourville?
MELBOURNE rockers Buchanan continue their immaculate run of live supports, playing alongside WA’s Tim & Jean this Saturday, April 16th at the Toff in Town. Tickets now Sold Out.
Check out our 1hr live DJ mix which takes in some of the classic tracks put out on the Nude Dimensions compilations back in the Noughties plus some other classic tracks selected from the archives. 60 minutes of silky mixed bliss. Enjoy!!!
A long time ago in disco stratosphere far away…. there lived a band called The Vaudeville Smash. Well, not a long time ago, but right now in fact. Their sound may hark back to a funkadelic era of tight hot pants and tiny tees but they are definitely from the here and now.
