I am a huge fan of Janelle Monáe and would normally get excited after listening to a track like this, particularly as it looks like it is all part of a soccer anthem Pepsi Beats of the Beautiful Game project.  Unfortunately though, this cover has cut the heart and soul out of the David Bowie original….with a teaspoon.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not one for just harking back to the original as there are so many outstanding covers, reworks, remixes that grace the YMR pages that it is hard to count them on all your fingers and toes.  However, this is not one of them.  Not in our eyes and ears anyway, but possibly it will be in yours, so give it a listen below.
