Etta James sadly passed away at the age of 73 after a battle with leukaemia. For most, she’s remembered for not only an amazing voice but also for the classic track ‘At Last’ that has been played everywhere from featuring in Rain Main (great soundtrack) right through to being sung by Beyoncรฉ at President Obama’s inauguration.
Not forgetting that Avicii sampled her great vocals for Levels…yes, that was her!!!
One of our favourites that Etta sang was ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ and Portugal The Man has dropped a damn fine cover of this track. In fact, it made us remember that Sydney Youngblood did a fine cover of this track back in 1990. Watching the video below and listening to the track, it really doesn’t sound that old at all. We reckon Lloyd could do some just to this track too.
