On Sunday January 31, VICE in collaboration with Samsung and Sydney Opera House, created a one off night of music, art and technology through the inaugural SOUND + VISION showcase.

The Creators Project were there to capture the immersive night of music, sound and technology within Australia’s premier performance venue.

If you weren’t one of the fortunate ones in Sydney to get along to see this in person, you can watch the video produced by The Creators Project below, which shows just how spectacular the Samsung SOUND + VISION showcase at Sydney Opera House truly was.

The event saw emerging musical talents Empress Of (US), Banoffee and long time collaborator Oscar Key Sung, and Charles Murdoch take the famous stage; collaborating with visual artists that created an immersive and unique trio of performances.

The event held in the venue’s Concert Hall, saw the four up and coming musicians collaborating with three visual artists which created an immersive and unique trio of performances, all powered by a suite of Samsung technology.

This was certainly an outstanding opportunity to catch Empress Of in her only Sydney show, see a special double-set of new wave R’n’B from Melbourne’s Banoffee and long time collaborator Oscar Key Sung.  Future Classic’s Charles Murdoch also returned to the Opera House right off of the back of recent US club shows and the huge supporting slot for Flume and Ta-ku at New York’s MoMA PS1.

The new media artist Joe Crossley used Samsung technology combined with motion sensors, midi triggers and audio manipulation to weave the music performances and artwork which created different and immersive shows for each of the three sets.

Empress Of was paired with the globally acclaimed light and sound dreamers Nonotak; Banoffee and Oscar Key Sung with Australian photo-surrealist Prue Stent; and Charles Murdoch with the playful, ARIA Award winning (Chet Faker’s ‘Built on Glass’) design duo Tin&Ed.
